| First
and foremost, given the expansions of films one and two on DVD, we're
giving a special nod to the entire Lord of the Rings Trilogy,
because (on whole) it was just a head above all else, when all is said
and done.

You've Never Seen
The
Guys from Sigourney Weaver and husband
writer Jim Simpson, with Weaver and Anthony LaPaglia
in starring roles recounting the actions of firefighters killed in the
September 11th attack on the World Trade Center is one all grownups should
seek out. Dramatized fiction doesn't get much better, and the utter lack
of support for the film from the studio -- no website, no nothing -- was
equally so.
Worst
Worst Film:
Singing Detective was as bad as Gigli
-- the former lacked the obscenities of the latter but Gigli
made more of an attempt to offer up a cohesive story. A wretched attempt
but still . . . Charlie's Angels Full Throttle, at
least, had Demi Moore in nothing of a bikini; League of Extraordinary
Gentlemen took a great original story and shredded it because
Sean Connery is not a supporting role actor. He never should have been
cast (but then, League wouldn't have gotten financing. Comics
fans were doubly disappointed as everyone else)
Then there's
Kill Bill vol 1. Revenge without a backstory or character
background is not a substitute for story. As for any artistic slice 'n'
dice angle, hell, any slice 'n' dice film will give you twice the kills
for the price of a single ticket. You'll have to buy two for the complete
Kill Bill, which is as close to a perfect definition of rip off
as we've ever seen in the film world
